Music Grant
2021 Spring Grantee
Pablo Lanouguere
The Café Royal Cultural Foundation NYC has awarded a 2021 Spring Music Grant to Pablo Lanouguere who will complete his second album, “Altar” with the Pablo Lanouguere Quintet. On this album, Pablo will continue the path he started with his first album “Eclectico” by employing elements of Argentine music styles, Tango & Folklore, threaded with elements from Jazz, Latin, Contemporary & Classical Music.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pablo Lanouguere is an active musician and composer based in New York City. As a sought after musician, he regularly plays with renowned artists and bands of Tango, Jazz, Latin-Jazz, Swing, Salsa, Classical and World Music. He has played at some of the most important venues in NYC such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The National Sawdust, Zinc Bar, Puffin Cultural Forum, DROM, ShapeShifter Lab, The Falcon, among others.
Over the past few years, Mr. Lanouguere has collaborated with artists such as Raul Jaurena, Fernando Otero, Daniel Binelli & Astoria Tango Orchestra, Adam Tully, Emilio Solla, Emiliano Messiez, Emilio Teubal and Federico Diaz. Additionally, he has also toured around the US with several American & Argentine bands.
Pablo is a founding member of Abaddon, a traditional Tango Sextet established in 2016 in New York City.
In 2019 Pablo released his first album as a bandleader (“Eclectico”, Piano Piano Records) and has since been playing with the “Pablo Lanouguere Quintet” around the Tri-state area.
This band showcases a very particular lineup, Violin (Nick Danielson), Guitar (Federico Diaz), Piano (Emilio Teubal), Drums (Franco Pinna) and Acoustic/Electric Bass (Pablo Lanouguere), that produces unique textures and colors throughout the pieces. The album will also feature singers Juana Luna and Bandoneonist Leandro Ragusa as guest musicians.
“Altar” will be produced entirely in New York City and is expected to be released in Spring 2022.
