Presented as interactive gaming screens, these works translate historical African American narratives into surreal environments that invite viewers to reconsider how history is documented, remembered, and felt. By synthesizing gaming conventions, archival imagery, and contemporary figurative painting, the project constructs an environment where past and present, reality and imagination, and analog and digital traditions converge. Companion paintings and digital pieces extend this inquiry, establishing a dynamic dialogue between the physical weight of the painted figure and the expansive possibilities of digital space.

A Pittsburgh native, Hall developed his artistic foundation at the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. In 1999, he relocated to Seattle, joining Gallery 110 as a member artist and presenting his work across prominent Pacific Northwest institutions, including the Tacoma Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Wing Luke Museum.

Hall is the recipient of numerous honors, fellowships, and residencies, including a 2024 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Painting, a MacDowell Fellowship, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, a Gottlieb Foundation Grant, the Helen Frankenthaler Studio Residency, the Headlands Center for the Arts Residency, The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program, and The Bronx Museum of the Arts AIM Residency Program.
